Tears welled up in Mom's eyes as she hugged me for saving her. Just days before she was told she was being evicted from her apartment. In a panic, scared of the thought of being homeless, living outside alone, in the coldest time of the year, she called me crying hysterically. I jumped into action, driving over a thousand miles to bring her to live with me. It was a whirlwind of decisions made under pressure, with little time for anything but the immediate needs at hand, I was unable to pack any of her belongings leaving 98% of what she owned behind. It has been extremely hard for me just to keep food in the house. I can't get her some things she needs like clothing, shoes, etc. that she had to leave behind, and I can not get her the medicine she needs that is not covered. Caring for my mother who once cared for me is an immense responsibility, one I take to heart. But as bills pile up and time stretches thin, I find myself at a crossroads—needing support now more than ever before.The cost of food, medication, and basic necessities is mounting. And yet, there's an undeniable strength that emanates from my mother despite her circumstances; it's the same resilience that got us this far in life. It's for her, and all she has given me over these years, that I stand here asking you to lend a helping hand today.
