Since being out of the hospital my dad (Pastor Rick) has made major improvement. He is now able to walk to the restroom with someone walking beside him. Each afternoon he walks around the kitchen island about 5 times. He doesn’t like the idea of a walker so he would much rather hold on to the island or something to make him feel more independent. Physical Therapy has been helping a lot with building the muscles on his right side again. He is also very excited because we do not have to puree his food anymore or add any thickener to his drinks J June 30th was dad’s first service back at church. He wasn’t the one preaching but he was able to enjoy the word of God with friends, family and church members of Word of Life Church in McKinney. We will definitely let everyone know when he will be preaching at church again. Thank you for everything you have done and continue to do for dad and mom. We love you very much!
My dad was finally released from the hospital on Friday June 14th just in time to celebrate Father’s Day. He will be staying with us until he can walk fully again and climb stairs to get into his own house. He’s going to rehab as an out patient which means we will be taking him back and forth to his therapy. We are still thanking God that the charitable rehab will be contacting us soon for more openings. He is happy to be out of the hospital to where he can actually get some rest and be with family. Dad will be staying over night at a Rehab for 3 nights so they can do more intense therapy with him. God is working a miracle in his body and we are seeing the signs of it daily. Thank you for all the prayers and support!
We are so happy about this update! Pastor Rick passed his swallow test today :) which means he will be getting the feeding tube out probably tomorrow. Keep praying he eats 2200 calories and gets enough protein in his daily diet since he is starting with soft foods. The physical therapist is working with dad everyday as his muscles continue to gain strength. He was able to walk 30 feet yesterday which is a Hugh accomplishment! We are standing in agreement to get into the Rehabilitation facility in Frisco before Fathers day. Thank you for all your prayers and donations we are praying you are blessed in return. Mark 4:20 But these are the ones sown on good ground, those who hear the word, accept it, and bear fruit: some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some a hundred.”
The physical therapist came in today and my dad (Pastor Rick) was able to sit up on the side of the bed and kick his feet. He was able to stay that way for about 15 minutes without any problems :) He was also able to squeeze and raise his right arm. My mom (Penny) is especially happy right now because since May 17th my dad hasn’t said her name. Well a few minutes ago he said Penny you are my sweetheart. We are beyond excited with how fast he is recovering. Keep praying and rejoicing for the victory!
Dad is able to move his right arm again which is wonderful. Thank you Jesus! They are still doing therapy on his right arm and leg to get him walking again. His speech is improving as well He told the nurse he was trying to get a ride out of there haha. Continue to pray for sweet sleep at night so he will be fully alert in the day time. We all know hospitals are not the best place to get good sleep with all the beeping and nurses coming in throughout the night. The word is still in effect everyday and night whether it’s a preaching CD, Believers Voice of Victory Network, playing praise and worship or just the kids and grandkids quoting scriptures to him. I was able to capture my 5 year old daughter (Kylie) on our way home last night as she started binding the devil and declaring healing over her papa Rick. You can watch it on YouTube https://youtu.be/9XxWEKS1YYw
God is good all the time and His mercy endures forever.
Pastor Rick was able to eat 4 bites of vanilla pudding and some ice chips yesterday and each day he is gaining more strength. He contines to listen to the word of God 24/7 to stay built up in the word. We printed out some scriptures for him to look at and he was able to read "The joy of the Lord is your strength" Nehemiah 8:10. Thank you for your prays!
