Life is short, and we never know when our last day will be. What we do know is that we are loved by a Great God, who calls us to give of ourselves, to love one another, to make each day count and to finish well.
As with all things in life, don’t wait for someone else to do what you feel led to do. Just... tonight, do something, anything to help someone else, anyone else out. Just don’t let another day go by without making it count
ln learning to trust and listen to the Lord, I’m seeing the many pieces that have to come together in order for a service trip to be successful. Funding, responsibilities, commitments, the needs of many many others, flights, and most importantly Gods timing which we know is always perfect. All that to say my time in Ethiopia is still happening as planned!!!! It is just being pushed back a short amount of time (August) to allow for all these other things to fall better into place. The great thing about this- more time to prepare and pray over what is to come! I am completely at peace with this decision, as are those waiting in Ethiopia for me to arrive. While I am now over half way to my fundraising goal (YAY and THANK YOU!!!), I’m still hoping that those who have not yet donated, will feel led to support me on this journey. Donations can be made online at my fundraising link provided below, or if you prefer, send me a message with your address and I will gladly mail out an envelope for you to send your donation to me directly. If you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to contact me
Thank you so much to those who have donated or sent prayers for this journey. I know some of you may be wondering what the money I’m asking for is going to. I thought a list may be helpful:-)
*Roundtrip Travel to (Boston MA or Washington DC airport via bus or train (whichever is cheaper).
*Roundtrip flight tickets to Addis, then to Awassa Ethiopia. (Approx $2000 without fees).
*Hotel stays based on flight departures and arrivals (DC/Addis/ heading to Ethiopia. Addis/DC heading home).
*Lodging/Food/etc while there.
*Supplies to teach CPR and First Aid
* Items/Donations for the kiddos
*Plus more I’m sure I’m missing.
As you can see, the list is pretty long. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.
Grace and Peace,
Happy Friday Friends! How are you spending your weekend? I’d be super grateful if yiu take the time to share this on your wall with your friends and family, and hopefully make a donation to help me be able to serve in Ethiopia in July. Have a great weekend!
Fact of the day:
ESMAfrica’s Motivation is to show the love of Christ with the people of Africa by providing housing, food, education, spiritual encouragement and love for orphans and vulnerable children, and establishing sustainable programs to assist poverty-stricken families to be self-supporting.
I appreciate everyone who has donated and shared this page so far. I need your help to make this possible! I’d like to share a bit about where I will be going, and thought a fact of the day might be nice.
I’d love to be able to raise the money to get to Ethiopia in July. If there is anything I can do for you between now and then, that would help me to raise the money, I would be super appreciative!!! Cleaning, filing, organizing, office work, any randomness you can think of... I’ve even been told I’d make a great thrift store personal shopper (seriously, I have super thrift store shopping skills)
A lot can happen in a year, and sharing can be a challenge. Not because your story isn’t worthy, but because there is SO much to share, you don’t even know where to begin. So while this may seem long and drawn out, it’s really only a glimpse into my past year...
Sometimes in life, you get to a place where you are no longer living, no longer loving, no longer caring. You find yourself going through the motions day in and day out, doing the same thing, avoiding the same things, and generally, not living a happy existence. When you find yourself in such a place, you have a few options: continue to live the same, while the weeks, months and years pass you by, or do something, anything to change it.
Sometimes, it’s the smallest changes that have the greatest and most unexpected impact on your life.
In the last year, my life has changed drastically, and SO much for the better. It started by responding to a random post in a fb group, which led to me finding myself at an MMA/Fitness gym (where I NEVER thought I would belong), hesitantly taking classes, just trying to get healthy. Through a series of seemingly, at the time, random moments (which I’d be more than happy to share with you sometime), I came to question everything I had ever known about God.
I also had some amazing people come into my life who patiently and lovingly listened to my questions, rants and doubts, and gently and truthfully answered those million and one questions without judgement. As the year progressed, I found my heart softening, and my faith growing. That through my beliefs I was saved. And on Easter this year, almost a year to the day of this journey, I was baptized, in a place that was so perfectly fitted to my story.
So while this last year started with a small change, intended to help me get fit, what really happened, in a way that I now know wasn’t at all random, was my finding Jesus at a gym. After spending my life fighting Him, it took Him bringing me into a fight gym to save me. If that isn’t a testament to how He can save a person, I don’t know what is. With all that said, check out the photo gallery for some pics of how my life has changed in the past year. Here’s to a lifetime of glorifying Him.
God is Good
Hey everyone, this is Chris! Thank you all so much for taking the time to look at this page. It is my hope that you will feel as moved to support me, as I feel to serve in Ethiopia. From the very first moment I was told about Ebenezer Grace Children’s Home back in September, I instantly and without hesitation felt like the Lord was calling me to serve there in some way. Through time, growth and prayer, we have decided that July would be a good time for me to go.
In order to make this happen, I need to raise a significant amount of money. This is where I am hoping that all of you can help. I would be so appreciative and grateful if you could donate what you are able in order to help me get to Ethiopia. I would also be grateful if you would share this page on your FB wall, with your friends, family and churches. And if you do not feel as if you can donate at this time, I would still love it if you would pray for me, and my journey. God is good, and we know that everything happens in his perfect timing. Love to you all. Chris
