Dear friends and family,
These past two weeks have been amazingly fun and tiring at the same time.
Week two was thankfully very relaxed. While most of the interns and pastors were in Miami doing their mission outreach, one of the interns and I cleaned up the camp and got it ready for the first week of summer camp. It was honestly a really great week to get to know the other intern, Hannah, rest up and spiritually prepare for the kids coming.
Week three, however, was the complete opposite.
Monday morning, vans were sent out to pick up the kids and bring them back to camp. When the kids arrived, we served them breakfast and helped get them settled into the dorms. After lunch Monday, is when the real fun began.
We broke the kids and volunteers up into four teams where they came up with a name, song, and chant.
My team was the Purple Pandas, we decided that we were from Atlanta, and also ate bananas!
During this time, the campers were also assigned older volunteer “buddies,” who were in charge of keeping them safe, getting to know them, and in general making them feel special and loved.
The rest of Monday and all day Tuesday the kids competed in games against each other to gain points. Some of these games including water balloon volleyball, slip and slide kickball, and human foosball. The kids not only gain points for winning a game, but also for cheering on their teammates. Some of us cheered so much that we lost our voices by the end of the first day!
Wednesday morning all the teams participated in the biggest event of the camp, the Great Race, which is a gigantic and really fun relay race. My team was able to finish second place over all!! I’m so proud of my kids!
Even though some of the teams placed better than others, all the kids played hard, cheered loudly, and overall had a blast.
After lunch on Wednesday we said goodbye to the kids and sent them home.
My favorite part of each day was definitely having chapel and worship in the evenings. Worship was not only fun, but also very powerful and a time where the interns/volunteers were able to comfort, talk to, and pray with the campers. After worship, the kids listen to a short sermon about how the words we speak hold weight and can do damage, and also how much they are loved by God.
I honestly had so much fun with the kids and interns this week but am glad to have a few days to rest up and get ready for next week.
Hope you all are doing well and having a great summer so far.

Dear Friends and Family,
Wow! I can’t even believe that I’ve been here for four days already.
I have definitely hit the ground running and though it’s been a little tiring, I like it.
For the past few days, I have doing a lot of cooking to help prep for next weeks trip.
Right after church tomorrow, a group from camp will be heading down to Miami for a week. Every year the head pastor of Sozo Ministries (David Houck) takes a dozen or so of his interns to minister to the people down there. This is not only a fun trip, but also a wonderful time of giving food and the love of Christ to those who need it.
Unfortunately, I will not be going down to Miami because I am needed here at the camp. Though I am a little disappointed to be staying back from what I know will be an amazing trip, I am also very much ok with it. Finally, starting Monday, I will be able to go to one of the centers in the Forest and help with the kids. These centers were built so that the kids could get away from their home lives for a few hours and just have fun. I honestly am so excited and can’t wait to see my kids from last year and also grow new relationships with the kids who weren’t here last summer.
Thank you all once again for your continuous prayers, I very much appreciate them.
Also, if there is any way in which I can pray for you, please let me know and I would be more then happy to lift you up in prayer.
Much love and manny blessings,
Dear Friends and Family,
I am so excited to be flying out to Florida today to start my internship with Sozo ministries.
I can’t thank you all enough for your support, especially through prayers. Because of your financial support, I was able to raise enough money to fund my expenses for my time there and will have money left over to donate to the ministry.
If you would like to continue to get updates from me throughout the summer, please click on the blue follow button at the top of the fundraising page by the picture and my name.
Please let me know how I can lift you up in prayer. This is going to be an incredible time of spiritual growth and I’m excited to see what the Father has to show me.
Thank you again so very much for all of the love, encouragement and prayers.
Many blessings and God bless!
Dear Friends and Family,
I hope you all are doing well!
Many of you probably have heard me talking a lot about the Sozo Kids Camp Richie and I volunteered at for a month last Summer. After much prayer and consideration, I am excited to inform you that from June until September I will be taking on an internship there in Florida to help with the Sozo Kids ministry!
The ministry is based out of the Ocala National Forrest, where many families and children live in abject poverty, many of which live without electricity, running water, and regular meals.
Camp Sozo provides the children with a place to get away from their sometimes abusive and negative home lives, get help with their school, eat, and just be kids and have fun.
I am so incredibly excited to help, bond with, and hopefully, bring change to these children's lives.
Ever since going last summer, I have been feeling a very strong pull to go back and help for a longer period of time, and now I'm finally doing it!
I would love and very much appreciate any and all prayers and financial support as I get ready to leave as well as while I am there. I have a goal to spend as little money as possible on myself, but I will have some necessary expenses and would love to get the kids a few things. Any of the funds I receive but do not use will most definitely be given straight to the ministry.
Please pray that in this time as I prepare to leave that I would do so especially spiritually and mentally. This will be the longest I will be away from home, and although I am overjoyed to go, it is a big leap for me and is a little scary. I definitely know that this will be an amazing time of growth and I can't wait to see what changes God has for me while I am there.
Along with that, please do not only keep me in your prayers but also for these kids I will be working with and mentoring. most of them are going through so much at such a young age, situations that no one, especially them, should never have to experience.
Thank you all so much for considering to support me through prayer and/or giving as I venture into this new and exciting chapter of my life.
