I am in continual awe and thanksgiving whenever I reflect on the fact that it was just over 3 years ago that I was dramatically saved by the radical grace of Jesus Christ. More so, to consider what all has taken place since then.
During my time in Corvallis at Oregon State University, I became connected to a local church body called Doxology Church as well as a campus ministry group called The Navigators. My involvement with both ministries continued to cultivate my heart for Jesus and His Kingdom as I came to know Him more through Scripture. Both ministries revealed to me the beauty of a genuine community that loves you with an unconditional love. Both ministries have taught me about the possibility and value of intimacy with Christ from our pursuit of Him.
During my second year at OSU, the Holy Spirit began to convict my heart about the possibility of going into full-time ministry - something that I was incredibly resistant to. Yet upon praying and fasting during the summer after my second year, I came to humbly and joyfully submit to His calling on my life. And by His provisions, I have graduated OSU a year early and have been given the opportunity to work alongside my former pastor from Doxology.
The Lord has now given me the privilege to serve at SummitView Church in Vancouver, Washington as a resident pastor. In this position, I have already begun to disciple other men, including Elijah Libby (Photographed above) of whom I had the honor of baptize in September 2018. In addition to all this, God has blessed me with the opportunity to earn my Masters of Divinity at Western Theological Seminary.
Vision and Mission
I believe that God has given me a heart for discipleship and to see other men come to know Jesus as Lord, and to walk deeply and intimately with Him as our God. The vision that I am clinging to for the culture of our church is that every individual would be sought after, cared for, and spiritually poured into - all towards the endeavor of our spiritual maturity and to His glory.
2 Timothy 2:2 are the words of the apostle Paul writing to his disciple Timothy saying,
“What you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also.”
I am convinced that being both a disciple and a disciple-maker is about having a ‘Ministry of Presence.’ To be present in the lives of individuals as they come to know the grace of God and to encourage the spiritual disciplines that will lend to their growing intimacy with Him. As well being reminded that Jesus is present in every circumstance of our lives from the moment we invite Him into our hearts. We see in Paul’s words that he was intentionally present in Timothy’s life as they pursued mission and life together until Timothy was able to do the same. It is by this example set within Scripture that I believe that the Gospel will reach the ends of the earth and is how I have fundamentally shaped my personal ministry.
As a resident pastor, I am currently not being paid by the church to conduct my ministry. Your support would allow me to have a small stipend that would allow me to carry out my ministry more generously. Your support is making it possible for me to make myself available for my ministry of presence in the lives of the individuals that God has set before me. For I believe that a person’s best ability, is actually their availability. Your support would cover my bi-annual expense for the months of October-March ($350 a month). Would you prayerfully consider contributing a special gift to the ministry that God has provided me in my vocation as a way of giving to the Lord? To reach this goal, gifts of $50, $75, and $100 are needed, as well as a $500 contribution to anchor my support. As the Spirit leads you, gifts of any size are greatly helpful and deeply appreciated.
Please contact me if you have any more questions about this ministry project. As well as if you would like to receive the quarterly update/newsletters of my ministry progress. In the meantime, please continue to pray for this ministry and that God's will would be done for the sake of our joy and His glory.
Thank you for partnering with me in the advancement of the Gospel to the ends of the earth beginning in the local Vancouver area.
