THANK YOU LORD FOR ALL YOU HAVE DONE! God has accomplished above and beyond what we had expected! We have built the school, furnished it with desks and books and have even been able to buy socks and shoes for all 105 children! We are now in need of a long term solution to the problem of providing daily nourishment for the children. Sponsorship of students can accomplish this, as well as give the children a sense of being loved. Please consider becoming a sponsor at $30 a month.

October 2 UPDATE: SHOES FOR SCHOLARS: Our students are enjoying their new school building, which was the result of your generosity! They are working hard to build a better future. But many of the students do not have shoes!
Footwear in Africa is extremely important in order to reduce trauma, hookworm and parasitic diseases that enter the bare foot. It is also important to lower the risk for podoconiosis and Kaposi’s sarcoma. You can read about these horrible conditions below, and you can help us reach our goal of a pair of shoes for each of the 105 scholars. It's just $12 for a pair of shoes. :)

Podoconiosis (“mossy foot”) is a type of endemic non-filarial elephantiasis. It is prevalent in Ethiopia, Rwanda, Burundi, Cameroon, Tanzania, and Guinea, particularly in barefoot agricultural workers. Tiny particles of silica penetrate the skin of barefoot farmers who walk in volcanic soils. These particles enter the lymphatic vessels. The body reacts as if a wound is present and makes a fibrous plug that clogs the lymphatics, causing elephantiasis. This disease is preventable by wearing shoes.

Schistosomiasis (bilharziasis) is a disease caused by parasitic worms. It is not found in the United States, but affects 200 million people worldwide including people in Africa. Its highest prevalence and severity is in school-aged children. Infection occurs when your skin comes in contact with contaminated fresh water in which certain types of snails that carry schistosomes are living. The parasite leaves the snail and enters the water where it can penetrate the skin of persons who are wading, swimming, or washing in contaminated water. Within several weeks, worms grow inside the blood vessels of the body and produce eggs. The body reacts to the eggs with fever, chills, cough and muscle aches. Excretion of the eggs through urine and feces complete the life cycle of the worm. Repeated infections can damage the liver, intestines, lung and bladder. Use of proper footwear and avoidance of contaminated water can minimize the occurrence of this disease.

Tungiasis (tunga penetrans) is a disease caused by a parasitic flea. Although rare in the United States, it is found in tropical Africa and is highly prevalent where people live in poverty. About 42% of Nigerian children are infected with tungiasis. This disease affects the feet because this sand flea is a poor jumper and therefore burrows into the skin of the host on the bare foot or toes. Painful swelling and the development of a fibrous cyst follows. It may progress to bacteremia, gangrene, tetanus and death. The major risk factor for developing tungiasis is failure to wear shoes when walking in sand infested with fleas. The primary method of prevention is simply to wear some type of footwear.

EMedicine, April 2006

Hookworm is an intestinal parasite that is caused by direct contact with soil contaminated with larvae, or by ingestion of the larvae. It infects 1 billion people worldwide and is found in Europe, Africa, Asia, and South America. The larvae typically penetrate the skin of the legs or feet and travel in the venous system to the heart, and then to the lungs where they enter the airways. Next, they are coughed up into the throat and then swallowed. In the intestine, the larvae develop into worms that attach to the bowel wall and suck blood. Excretion of the eggs into the soil completes the life cycle. Hookworm causes anemia, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and weight loss. It can also cause growth retardation. The incidence of hookworm infection may be reduced by wearing shoes.

September 13 UPDATE: Thank You, Lord! And thank you to all the generous supporters of this project! We have raised the funds for the 35 desks needed and they will be delivered on Saturday (Sept. 15th) School startes on Monday, September 17th and we just have some school supplies which we need to purchase in order to reach 100% of our goal. With God, all things are possible!

September1 UPDATE: School resumes on September 17th and we are in need of 35 desks and some other school supplies for our new building.

Aug. 27 UPDATE The interior finishin begins today ! The building is almost complete!

July 23 UPDATE: Phase 3 is almost complete! The doors and windows are being installed! :) The final phase of construction will begin now. As soon as the concrete floor is poured, the children will be able to use the building. Please help us reach the goal of $1200 to make this happen so the children can use the building before the rains begin.

July 18 UPDATE: My sweet boy, Bravery, is so happy that we have now raised the money to complete Phase 3 of the construction project. The windows and doors will be delivered on Friday!

July 15, 2018 UPDATE: Look at that beautiful building! Do you notice what's missing? That's right ... the WINDOWS and DOORS! We sent the $600 needed for the deposit to order the windows and doors, and we now need $940 to pay the balance. If we raise $470, our matching donor will double it :) I just received $200 from a brother in Christ at our small group gathering today! <3 Please help us raise the additional $270 to complete this step in the construction.

June 27: URGENT NEED - Let me explain the urgency of the need for $200 now. Hiring the engineers, or crew of builders, meant Antony paid for their transportation to the site and he must feed and house them on site, until the work is complete. They can't finish the job until the $200 is donated to buy the last metal roofing sheets. He is still responsible for feeding them until the job is done, as agreed. Otherwise, he could pay to transport them back from the rural area the orphanage is in, but he'd just have to pay again to bring them back, they may be on another job by then, and transportation is by taxi or car rental, so very expensive. This is why the need is urgent.

June 26: UPDATE: We are almost to the end of PHASE 2, with just a small portion of the roof remaining to be done, but we are out of money. Please consider a gift to complete the roof and the interior work. We need an additional $200 for the roof and around $2000 for the doors, windows, flooring and all the interior work.

June 18: THE NEW RISES UP BEHIND THE OLD! The roof should be completed this week, and then we will have the FINAL PUSH to get windows, doors and all the interior work completed for these precious children.

June 4th: It's time to RAISE THE ROOF! Thanks to the generous donations of many selfless people, we have been able to send $2835, which has been matched for a total of $5670 for the construction of the orphanage in Uganda. God is Good, and His people are living out the commandment to LOVE ONE ANOTHER.

UPDATE FROM Kolobe Antony - May 26: Now the column are done and beam is ongoing. It is taking us some time but it's because it deals with concrete which needs to dry before next step.Otherwise, we are at steady progress.

UPDATE - May 19: RAISE THE ROOF! We are gearing up for the next phase of construction, which is the ROOF! The cost to get the roof done is $2400. We have $200 towards this phase, so if we raise another $1000, we will have matching funds of $1200 and be able to achieve the goal.

May 16 UPDATE from Kolobe Antony: Praise God brothers and sisters. We have received the matching funds today ($1555) I want to inform all our donors that all your donations have been doubled.God is so faithful our building project is progressing steadily. We have bought a lot of materials today. Our budget has been checked seriously. We have bought 30 bars,15 ring bars, 6 kilograms of binding wires, 1 trip of stones, 10 trips of sand soil, 25 bags of cement, we have paid for 100 timbers and paid our engineers today. I want to thank our generous donor who matched all our donations. I thank whoever has already donated this project. We still call up on everyone to consider donating towards this project.MAY 10th: This is how far $1400 can go! These guys are serious builders, but more money is needed to complete the project. Please consider joining with us to make this happen. These kids need a building, something we all take for granted here in the US. Please share a little bit of your blessings with these precious children.

UPDATE May 4th: We have been able to send $870 so far and work has already begun, transforming the donated bricks into a building for the orphanage! We are now at 12% funded, but with our matching funds donor, that's almost 25%! Please share with your friends so we can complete this project and give thanks to God for His faithfulness to these precious children.

UPDATE FROM Kolobe Antony: I want to inform you that I have been able to buy 50 bags of cement and 10 trips of sand soil today. Our engineers will be starting up the work tomorrow. Extend our thanks to everyone who has donated. Please share this post with your friends. I am looking for people who can contribute even $5 or $10 to help raise money for construction costs at an orphanage in Uganda. I sponsor this sweet boy, and he and the other children need a safe building. Thank you to my generous friends who have already contributed <3 We are so blessed here in America. Please help those who are not as fortunate.

UPDATE FROM Kolobe Antony - May 26: Now the column are done and beam is ongoing. It is taking us some time but it's because it deals with concrete which needs to dry before next step.Otherwise, we are at steady progress.

Kolobe Antony, Director of God's Ambassadors For Needy People in Uganda needs help with a building project. After recently being recognized for his work with local orphans, the district council has donated bricks to build a proper building for the children. However, turning those bricks into a useable structure requires money, which Antony does not have. But God is working on behalf of these precious orphans. Plans are in the works to locate someone who can help drill a well for clean water for the children.

1 John 3:17-18 says, “If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.”

You have more than you need. Please consider sharing a small portion of your many blessings with God's precious children.

"But you, God, see the trouble of the afflicted; you consider their grief and take it in hand. The victims commit themselves to you; you are the helper of the fatherless." (Psalm 10:14)
