Hey guys! My name is Wesley and I am excited to share that I am raising money for a Discipleship Training School in Brisbane, Australia through an organization known as YWAM or Youth With a Mission.
This is a six-month missions program during which I will be taking classes and learning about God for the first half, followed by a second half of outreach which will be in a another country, most likely Peru. The money I am raising will be used to help pay for tuition, accommodations, plane tickets, health insurance, traveling insurance, laundry, vaccinations, a visa, and any other expenses that might come up during my trip. It will also help pay for the outreach mission expenses in Peru.
If you are able to help - at any amount - I sure appreciate it! I have been working and saving money, but need $4,000 to raise the rest. You can read more details below. When: August 15, 2018 to February 8, 2019
1st half of the trip is the Lecture phase in Brisbane, Australia: This Pathfinders DTS (Discipleship Training School) will find me studying God's word and growing closer to Him as I discover more about myself and my gifts.
2nd half of the trip will be the Outreach phase in another country, most likely Peru: This outreach will find me sharing about God and His love to others.
Lecture Phase: $3,500
Outreach Phase: $4,000
MORE ABOUT ME:
What made you think about wanting to go on a mission trip?
My youth pastors and my church. I enjoyed going on mission trips in middle and high school, including Portland, San Francisco, and Washington, DC. I also enjoyed participating in the Silver Ring Thing, and even tried to join their tour for two years. Also, when I was in middle school, I remember hearing several YWAM missionaries who came to our church and wanted to experience what they talked about.
What brought you to the point of wanting to go on a YWAM mission?
When I applied for the Silver Ring Thing the second time, I told myself and God that if I did not get accepted, I would consider YWAM. I connected with Jordan Adams, a local guy who did a DTS out of Lakeside, Montana, going to India. After hearing his stories and experiences, along with his encouragement, I determined in my heart to go on a YWAM mission.
How did you choose the Brisbane, Australia DTS?
When I was first researching YWAM locations, I knew I wanted to go out of country. In looking on their home website I found several places that caught my eye. I heard many good things about Australia, their bases and locations. Once I began contacting different bases, Brisbane was the fastest to respond. I spoke with the leader through instant messaging, followed by a call from her on the next day. This finalized my decision to go to Brisbane for their DTS.
What made you choose the specific Pathfinders DTS, as opposed to other DTS programs?
As the name indicates, Pathfinders is about finding my path with God. Specifically, though, it is about “equipping you to discover your strengths, identity, and passions in finding your calling.” I am honestly not too sure what my path is with God. What it is exactly that I want to do and what God wants me to do as well.
I am excited to experience life outside of the U.S. And to experience other Christians and God-fearing people outside of the U.S. I’m excited to find my path and go off on my own, away from friends and family, and the confines of life I have here in Grants Pass.
