Someone posted in a FB group that they had a pregnant dog who seemed to be stuck after delivering three pups. They couldn't afford a vet and didn't know what to do. I don't know the lady or the dog, but I couldn't sit by and do nothing. I called my vet and explained the situation as I had it. They said it didn't sound like a major issue, so I told them I'd cover the bill. They agreed, so I messaged the person to take the dog into my vet.
When they finally got there, it turned out there were four more pups inside. The one stuck was dead, and the other three apparently died as a result of being stuck behind it. Obviously this all required a C-Section, and turned out to be quite a bit more involved than any of us expected. The vet spayed her while he was in there (at no charge) and checked out the three surviving pups. Everyone's home and healthy now.
Of course despite the best efforts of the vet, this still turned out to be quite a bit more expensive than any of us hoped. I've already paid the vet as promised, but having an unexpected $506.06 bill right before Christmas hasn't left me in the best situation.
I've received a couple of donations, and I don't think it's reasonable to ask to be reimbursed for the whole amount, so I set the goal at $400. Anything will help, and if this does happen to reach the goal, that'll be more than enough.
Thanks for reading this, and thanks for any help you can give.
