Imagine what it would be like to be the heart and hands of Jesus; to lay your hands upon, care for, and love those who need healing. If you had the opportunity to leave your comfort zone and be a servant to fulfill God’s calling and fulfill an answered prayer, would you choose to do so?
Several years ago, the Lord called me to serve as His earthly heart and hands, and I chose to follow Him. Life is always an adventure, but the last five years have been a roller coaster – with LOTS of loopty-loops! If not for the Grace of God, I would not be where I am today! Five years ago, I would not have thought I would be a registered dental assistant, and I certainly would not have seen myself going out of the country for a medical mission! The Lord will lead us where he wants us, we just have to agree to follow His path. This year, God is calling for me to serve Him and the people of Itu, Brazil.
The team I am joining is based in San Angelo, Texas. The team includes physicians, dentists, massage therapists, chiropractors, nurses, students, skilled tradesmen, etc. We will be traveling to Brazil in July of 2018 where hundreds of patients will be seen (and treated) over the course of a week.
I participated in a similar, but much shorter, local event in October 2017. That event was focused soley on dental treatment and lasted two days. After the dental event, I knew I wanted to serve on another team. It's quite eye opening to see how desperately some people need medical and/or dental care, but cannot afford treatment. Too many people fall through the cracks of our healthcare system here in the US. In Brazil, it's much worse. People in Brazil may wait as long as a year for treatment, but CuraBrazil can help hundreds of people within a week. Our team will greatly and positively affect the lives of hundreds of people in Brazil.
With this GiveSendGo campaign, I hope to raise the money needed for my upfront expenses: a travel visa and the trip deposit. The total needed for the trip is around $3,000. I'm doing other personal fundraisers as well, including meal prep for the holidays and selling handmade crafts. Every dollar counts.
