GO:PR has been our mission name since 2009. Each year, we've brought one to three mission teams to Puerto Rico to share the love of God and provide much needed resources to the community.
There's no way to describe how we are feeling right now, not knowing what has happened to our beloved sister church in Aibonito. We cannot get through to any of our friends and family and our hearts are just broken seeing the island we love so much left in ruins. Our church was already putting together a mission team to help rebuild part of the church building that was decaying, and now we fear that Hurricane Maria has gotten a head start on the demolition.
God made Puerto Rico my heart's desire for missions. He brought us there for the first time 10 years ago. He partnered us with strangers who later became family. And not just family to me, but to everyone who has ever had the honor of coming down to serve. Pastor Miguel and Ludy are living, breathing examples of Christ on earth. We've never known any missionary who wasn't immediately welcomed, loved and cared for as their own.
Please join me in praying continually for Puerto Rico. Pray for peace, and for trust. Pray for my own trust as we are scared to know what's happened. I am just wrecked as we are only beginning to peel away our fingers from our eyes, waiting to see what happened, waiting to fully measure the destruction Hurricane Maria brought to la isla encanta.
Many asked for a way to help. If you feel so led to give to our GO:PR Mission Fund, please know that we are working already to formulate a team to go and help our sister church, including the members of the community we see every summer. We pray for communication to be opened so that we can know our loved ones are safe. Please, please: don't stop praying.
