This summer I have the amazing opportunity to work as an intern with Amor ministries for a month in Baja, Mexico. Amor’s vision is to show God’s love through simple and tangible acts of service. The main purpose of their work is to fight poverty by providing adequate housing for families, so that these families can stay together. As an intern I will be supporting Amor’s vision of providing homes to the poor, as well as sharing the hope that we have in Jesus.
So what will I actually be doing while I’m there?
For the month, I will be working on a team with other interns, all ages 18-25, learning and ministering in a third-world country. Project Transform (this is the name of the intern program) will start with an orientation that involves training in communication, cultural awareness, as well as spiritual development. After this I will be serving in a variety of different ways, helping volunteers build homes for the homeless, working in the kitchen to provide food for the volunteers, as well as working alongside and learning from local pastors. Throughout the entire month I will be learning about justice issues in the world, assisting in Amor’s programs that provide jobs in the local community, and experiencing first-hand what it means to be living out a missional life in a different country.
God has put the Hispanic world on my heart ever since I went on my first mission trip in January of 2015. For this trip, we went to Juarez and built a home for a young family (the mother was 17, the father was 19, and they had a 1-year-old child). This was an unforgettable experience that has truly changed my life. After going to Juarez in January of 2015, I went to Mexicali on another mission trip with the high school ministry in February of that same year. The following year I went back to Juarez as well as Mexicali.
I am really looking forward to spending a month this summer doing mission work, since short-term mission trips have always been the highlights of my year. I feel that God may be calling me to mission work after I graduate from college (thankfully, I still have lots of time before needing to decide), but this internship will definitely help me discern whether or not God is leading me in this direction.
Another component of being an intern is raising money in order to participate. And this is where I need some help from you. I need to raise total of $2,200 dollars by May 6th. If you would like to support me financially, you can do so on this page. Any donation no matter how big or small would be so unbelievably appreciated. If you have any questions, feel free to email or call me! I would love to hear from all of you!
If you prefer, you can also send checks directly to Amor Ministries with "Project Transform- Paige Pietrofesa" in the memo line.

This month will definitely have its fair share of heartaches and challenges, as well as many moments of joy. It would mean so much to me if you could also keep me as well as the entire intern team in your prayers. Prayers for good health, safety, and lots of energy would be so appreciated! But most importantly, praying for transformed lives (whether that be the lives of interns, volunteers, or the people we are going to serve).
I am so blessed to have this opportunity and I really couldn’t do it without your support.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!
Lots and lots of love,
Paige Pietrofesa
