Ok, folks. Jonna Hayden needs our help. Henry, her derpy cat, is having health issues. On top of which, she's having health issues of her own. She is under a doctor's care and has been told -- in no uncertain terms -- that she needs to not do anything physical until the issue is resolved. This is less difficult than you might think, because it has left her exhausted all the time. Since she is currently working for royalty shares in Raconteur Press, as well as working two businesses on the side, her health insurance is ObamaCare -- neither the cheapest, nor the lowest deductibles offered. And, of course, she covered Henry's medical before her own.
She needs help but won't ask for it.
So. She's helped out more than one person, and it's time we returned the favour.
Medical bills, and 90 days of enforced rest comes to about $15k. Since the Internal Revenue Service will be armpit-deep in what she raises, we figure to bump the target to $20k.
Ever little bit helps a lady who has bent over backwards to help so many other folks.
Header image is of Henry the Derp, because I don't want Jonna coming after me when she recovers. Also -- it's the internet. Cat pics are required.
Thank you,

(Update from Jonna)
Hey all. First up, THANK YOU. I am...gobsmacked, grateful, and a bit teary-eyed, really. I am...humbled in the face of your generosity.
Ian was doing a great job of respecting my privacy while insisting on helping, so here's a bit more information.
My career and business were utterly destroyed by the Covid policies in Oregon, so three years ago I packed up my shop and my cat and moved to Tiny Town Texas to rebuild from scratch. Not an easy thing when you're almost 60, but I'm not a quitter, and I had a good bunch of friends to support my move here. My little shop has become home to two businesses and now Raconteur Press, and while it's been financially precarious, I've been scraping along.
I do have health insurance...but we all know what Obamacare policies are like. Mine has a $5000 deductible with high copays, which is all I could afford. I do also have dental insurance! YAY! I had my teeth cleaned at the end of April....wonderful thing, that, right? And then....developed a heart condition shortly thereafter, caused by that cleaning.
I was very lucky in catching it early--it's completely curable--but the condition completely saps my strength, and knocks my available energy for work from my normal 10-12 hour days to maybe 4 if I'm lucky. My doc also says that to recover, I absolutely MUST rest, and not push past when I feel exhausted, because overdoing will prolong the healing. Recovery usually takes about three months, and to avoid heart damage, I must follow the treatment plan. For the last three weeks I've been trying to come to terms with this, and attempting to keep my work schedule going, because I HAVE to work.
This, for a self-employed person, is a total catch-22. Not working=no income=bills not paid=homeless. To do the thing I need to do to heal creates stress that makes the condition worse.
I did have a bit of a cushion and friends who were helping that would have allowed a BIT of room..and then my business laptop died, and had to be repaired. And dear sweet Henry, my 19 year old cat, became very ill. And the medical bills are piling up.
So my friends decided to do something to help, and here we are. Ian's right, I'm very bad at asking for help. I'd rather chew off a leg or sell a kidney. So I'd like to thank him, and all of you, for doing this. I'm...there are no words, and I am humbled by all of you and your generosity. Thank you, from the bottom of my (healing) heart.
Sorry that I cannot spare more, I have a roof to replace!
Jonna, sending love and healing energies!
Best to you, Jonna. I'll be praying.
Here's to being able to rest and recover!
