Help Rachel Rebuild Her Life After a Devastating Accident

Two years ago, my life changed in an instant when I was run over by an ECV ( Golf cart sized Scooter with metal plates in front ) at Walt Disney World. Since that day, I have been fighting one medical battle after another just to survive and be there for my 13-year-old son.

What started as a traumatic accident has turned into an ongoing fight for my health, my mobility, and my future.

Since the accident, I have endured:

1. ACL and meniscus repair surgery
2. A spinal fusion
3. Removal of 20 inches of my colon
4. Multiple spinal injections in my lower back, mid-back, and neck
5. SI joint injections
6. Ongoing severe pain and mobility issues
7. DVT (deep vein thrombosis) in my left calf
8. Multiple blood clots
9. A pulmonary embolism in my right lung
10. A second pulmonary embolism in my left lung
11. A TIA (Transient Ischemic Attack), often referred to as a “mini stroke”

I still desperately need SI joint/hip fusion surgery, but complications from the blood clots and pulmonary embolisms have delayed treatment.

Over the last 30 days alone, I have been hospitalized twice. I am now attending physical therapy and speech therapy while also trying to prevent a major stroke after my recent TIA. In the coming weeks, I must see multiple specialists including a cardiologist, pulmonologist, hematologist, vascular surgeon, ENT specialist, pain management doctors, and likely mental health support to help process the emotional trauma this has caused.

I have been unable to work for the last two years. During that time, I exhausted my savings, maxed out my credit cards, and have been doing everything I can just to keep a roof over our heads and provide for my son.

As a single mother, this has been one of the hardest seasons of my life. There are days when I feel completely overwhelmed physically, emotionally, and financially. But I am continuing to fight because my son still needs me here.
