Thousands of people are leaving their friends, families, and homes in the hope of finding a better life away from the civil war in Syria. Many are going through the island of Lesvos. More refugees passed through the island in August 2015 than in all of 2014. With such a large influx of refugees there is a great need for volunteers. When I heard about this need, I said "YES". I am able to lend a hand wherever it is needed, so I'm going.
I will be working with Euro Relief, a Christian Greece-based NGO. They are a part of Hellenic Ministries, which seeks to serve Christ throughout Greece, the Balkans and the Eastern Mediterranean. Ministry will include distributing food, clothing, and shelters, meeting rafts of refugees as they arrive, ministering to children, food preparation, and maintaining the transition point at Sykaminea.
I am happy I have the oppurtunity to help and I look forward to praying over people and families as they search from hope and a new future.
Please pray about supporting me. I will be on Lesvos helping November, December and January. I have to support my own food, lodging and transportation, which for three months will come to over $4,000. Every dollar helps!! It will cost about $5 to feed myself for one day, can you support me for one day? or ten days?
Please pray for me as I embark on this adventure! Follow my blog at https://katherinemcclard.wordpress.com/
