We often see wonderful outpourings of financial support for individuals and families in dire need. We think that is awesome. But what would God have us do for so many more families we never hear about, the ones that struggle with serious health issues while trying to make ends meet and working to take care of their loved ones. Sometimes, it's diseases that are expensive even with insurance. For others, it's the stress and health risks they face while sacrificing to keep us safe from harm. We've been given a vision to help these everyday families who deal with life-altering situations that don't grab the headlines. The Father's Heart for Health expands your gift to reach thousands of families.
Who Does Your Gift Support?
Our vision includes providing care for children with Cystic Fibrosis, ALS patients, firefighters and America's military families at no expense to them. Even with health insurance, treatment for Cystic Fibrosis is expensive.
For a child with CF, every day is a challenge. The good news today is the life expectancy for a CF patient is about 40. The harder news is that breathing and therapy are hard and expensive. A typical family with a child with CF spends more than $12,000 out of pocket annually. Hospital visits are far too frequent. Our halotherapy service, made possible with the success of The Father's Heart for Health, breaks up the sticky, thick mucus that maked breathing and digestion difficult. Because insurance won't always pay for it, we intend to provide kids with free halotherapy.
Families facing ALS have to deal not only with the out of pocket costs of treatment and other expenses, such as around the clock nursing care, but also with the stress of managing a home, caring for children, and making ends meet. That's on top of dealing with one of the most devastating diseases we know. The mind remains active while the body fails around it, all while the patient's family can only watch. Our services provide important alternatives that extend active quality of life and stress relief for spouses.
Firefighters have a cancer rate several times greater than the general population and risk themselves each time they respond to a fire. Research shows they are regularly exposed to microparticles of contaminants that can be inhaled or penetrate skin, even with protective equipment. In fact, a house fire can easily involve more than 3000 pounds per floor of chemicals, including flame retardants, preservatives, synthetic carpet fibers, chair cushions, and other lung contaminants. Our halotherapy and microcurrent services help clear the toxins from lungs and skin.
Finally, America's military families make great sacrifices every day for us and people around the world. In many places, our military is exposed to airborne irritants from pollutants, dust, fumes from fuels, and more. Too many return after injuries, including traumatic brain injuries, that leave them in intense pain, affect their relationships and destroy their long term health. Our work helps them find their way back to health. At home, spouses deal with the stress of caring for children alone, managing tight finances, and their own health concerns, among so many more. The VA is underserving this important group of Americans, so we're asking for your help in taking care of them like our country promised.
Your contribution to The Father's Heart for Health helps each of these groups and more. However, it's not enough to have services available. We believe we are called to offer them at no cost to these special groups. We're asking for your help.
"Sarah (not her real name) collided head-to-head with another player during a college soccer match. She was diagnosed with a concussion. Her grades dropped (she had been an honor student), her personality changed, she wasn’t motivated to do anything, and she eventually dropped out of school. She was so lost, and we were afraid since her doctors couldn’t offer anything but stay inside and rest. This went on for months.
A pediatrician friend who heard about Sarah suggested we try microcurrent treatment. After her first 60 minute session, Sarah said she didn't feel as foggy and the light didn't bother her. A couple sessions later, we noticed her personality begin to emerge once again. She said her head was clearer, she began reading again, and her smile & laughter returned. Just after her second week of treatment, I heard noises coming from the back yard and saw her kicking a soccer ball around with her dad. I watched from the porch with tears in my eyes, and, believe me, there was no way I could scold my husband about getting grass stains on his dress uniform.
Thank you for bringing our little girl back!"
Why Are We Crowdfunding?
Crowdfunding wasn't our first choice for raising capital. It wasn't our second or our third either. However, as time passed, we became more and more aware God was leading us to crowdfund as what we are supposed to do. Here are a couple of the reasons:
1. We are committed to offering services to children with Cystic Fibrosis, ALS patients, firefighters and America's military families at steep discounts or no cost to them. We can only do that through the success of this effort.
2. We want to act consistently with Biblical teaching about borrowing and lending. The Bible reminds us that borrowers become obligated to follow what lenders demand (Proverbs22:7). Traditional lenders aren't fond of our intent to provide no charge services or our practice of dedicating a portion of our income for charitable missions. They want us to charge everyone the full service rate until a loan they make is paid. We understand their reasoning, but we do not believe that is what we are called to do.
3. We've been given a bigger vision than we can afford without God's, and your, help. It's bigger than any of our personal or professional networks. Consequently, we ask that you share this campaign with others. In that way, we can multiply the fishes and loaves of our networks to accomplish much.
4. It is a matter of faith. We believe God is leading us to crowdfund as a way for people to participate in caring for those who deserve help. It requires us to let go and allow Him to work. We believe he is already working in the hearts of people to make this campaign a success. We also believe He is preparing to pour out His blessings on your support for The Father's Heart for Health.
"I'm a third generation firefighter. My grandfather worked at the same firehouse for 44 years, my dad is a captain in the department here,my uncle was a firefighter, and I've worked in the department since I was 20 years old. From my grandpa's time to mine, the number of fire calls we get has dropped a lot, but the chemicals we're exposed to has gotten much worse. We have better protective equipment than my dad or grandpa had, but the cancer rate among firemen is as high as ever. I've watched my dad and uncle battle lung cancer. I wouldn't change my career, but it is scary that I might have to deal with cancer in my future. I want to be sure I can watch my four kids grow up.
I love the idea that you will have a way my family, my buddies and I can keep our health. Count on me being first in line when it's ready."
Why Are We Using GiveSendGo?
We like GiveSendGo's focus on faith. Lately, some other crowdfunding platforms have blocked, closed or prohibited faith-based campaigns. Even more, we learned GiveSendGo's founders, based on God's leading, decided to stop charging for its services in favor of voluntary compensation. For a growing service, that's a step out in fath we really respect. We like GiveSendGo's commitment to missions. They commit a portion of GiveSendGo's income for mission projects. That mirrors what we do, and we are pleased to help. It's another way your support expands the resources available through The Father's Heart for Health.
Breathing never came easy for Krista. When she was less than a year old, her family and doctor noticed something was wrong. She wasn't developing or gaining weight the way she should be. After several tests, the doctors diagnosed Krista with Cystic Fibrosis, a life-threatening condition that can cause severe damage to the lungs and digestive system. For someone with CF, the normally smooth mucus lining of the airway and digestive tracts is thick and sticky. As a result, it's hard to digest food and breathe.
Every day for the rest of her short life, Krista would take as many as 25 pills, vitamins and supplements. She would also go through an hour or more of percussive therapy, a thumping that breaks up mucus so it can be expelled by the body. She was frequently in the hospital with illnesses and infections that were minor for other children her age. When she felt well, she could play with other kids on the block. There were many days she didn't feel up to it. Sometimes it was coughing that made her sick; other days it was difficulty breathing. Despite the treatments she received and the care of her family and doctors, Krista passed away before her 21st birthday.
Halotherapy, a service that will be possible through The Father's Heart for Health, breaks down the thick mucus, clears restricted airways, and clears the small air sacs in the lungs. It makes a big difference in the lives of people who use it as part of their therapy plan. Krista's family would have done it in an instant. As a company, we're passionate about it, so kids with CF will get free halotherapy services.
What Can You Do?
1. Pray: Pray for The Father's Heart for Health. Pray specifically about what God wants you to give with whom He wants you to share it, and for others to get involved..
2. Give: We're looking for churches and individuals to get involved. We're praying that 100 churches will make a gift of $500 or more. We believe God has prepared churches and their members for this outreach. We're praying that 1000 individuals, a large number for traditional crowdfunding, will make a gift of $50.
Each $50 gift to A Heart for Health provides a halotherapy service for a CF patient, a firefighter or a member of the military. Each $100 gift provides a microcurrent session or a combined halotherapy and sauna session for a member of our designated groups.
"Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work."
3. Share: Share information about this campaign with others. You may know someone who is willing to give. You may also know someone who can benefit from the services made possible through this campaign. We already have people lining up for care, but we can't do it alone.
Recognition and Rewards
We want to recognize your contributions. Every person, church, business or other organization that makes a gift will be recognized on our website and in our social media. We also believe God is ready to pour out His blessing on people who support this campaign.
Our Prayer for A Heart for Health
Father, You are above all things and worthy of our praise. We seek Your will and Your voice for the Father's Heart for Health. You have written in our hearts a vision for bringing special care to families facing hard situations. It is a challenge that is bigger than we are, but we know You are sufficient. We trust in You alone.
There are people whose hearts You are preparing to participate in funding The Father's Heart for Health. We don't know who they are, but You do. We thank and praise You in advance for them and for the blessings You are waiting to pour out. I pray that those in whose lives you are working will hear Your voice and know how you will have them give, pray and share.
Thank you, Father, for scripture through which we can know You more intimately. Thank You for teaching us to love our neighbors and for the finances we have to share with others in need. Thank You for the richness of Your love. Thank You for Jesus in whose name we pray. Amen.
