Kent Turnbo’s medical and living expenses

Campaign Created by: Christine Scharmann

The funds from this campaign will be received by Christine Scharmann.

Goal : USD $20,000
Raised : USD $ 8,975

Last year Kent Turnbo was diagnosed with a rare form of lung cancer. They were optimistic because they had caught it early. He approached it like he does everything in life: he was going to kick cancer’s ass.

He fought through chemo, chest tubes, infections, and surgeries. He had good days and he had some really bad days. Late last year when he was done with chemo his scan showed that it was working. But he kept getting infection after infection. It wasn’t until February that they final found the root of the problem: the chest tube had caused an infection. So after major surgery and a 2 week hospital stay he was on the mend.

In the mean time, money has been very tight. He ran out of disability payments and was finally looking forward to going back to work. He’s been working with a physical therapist to build up strength and was all set to start in a few weeks.

Until today…

Kent got the call he was not expecting. Not only is the cancer back but it has spread to his other lung and liver. They want to start him on chemo again but the prognosis is not good.

We are trying to raise money for Kent and Debbie to help with their immediate needs such as rent, utilities, fuel and food. We are also trying to raise money to help get them moved with us in Tennessee so they can be near family at this crucial time. Unfortunately time is not on our side.

We are also asking for prayers. Lots of them. Kent and Debbie have done so much for others throughout the years and they need all of us now.

Thank you for your love and support.

Shane and Chris

Update #2

It’s been awhile since we’ve updated everybody. There are no words that can express the gratitude we have for all the love, prayers, and donations thus far. We have raised enough money so far to secure a house for Kent and Debbie to move into and to partially pay for the move. We’ve also found a cancer treatment center for Kent to continue his treatment.

Kent and Debbie will be leaving California to head to Tennessee this weekend. Although Kent puts on the tough guy front, this is going to be a difficult trip for him both physically and mentally. And Debbie as well. Please consider words of encouragement for them on their journey and as always prayers are greatly appreciated.

We want to thank everyone that has reached out to our family and thank you for the overwhelming support so far. We have been able to secure a place for Kent and Debbie to move to which is a huge hurdle and hopefully we’ve found a doctor for Kent to transfer his care. Things are moving quickly but there are little signs letting us know that this is meant to happen. Please keep Kent in your thoughts and prayers. Being given 6-10 months to live is something nobody wants to hear. We want him to kick cancer’s ass.
