Schwartz Family Rebuilding After Fire

Campaign Created by: Kelly Strantz

The funds from this campaign will be received by Kelly Strantz.

Goal: USD $10,000
Raised: USD $ 345

Fire completely destroyed one of Mark and Carol Schwartz's outbuildings in the early morning hours of February 2nd, 2022.  The building that burned was their animal barn and adjoined to it was their business, the Schwartz Family Market.  Nothing from either the barn or the business was salvageable. Aside from the business contents and inventory, there were innumerable personal affects in these buildings - buggies, horse tack, farming supplies/implements, personal cash, etc. Thankfully, nobody was injured in the fire, and the horses were not in the barn at the time it occurred.  Sadly, they did lose some bunnies and some dogs they had in their kennel in the barn.  This fundraiser is specifically for helping to replace the personal items, animal barn, and it's contents that were lost in the fire.

Mark and Carol, along with their children - 2 daughters and 2 sons - moved to the Leslie area in late 2019 to help establish a new Amish community. This fire has incurred a huge material and monetary loss. Additionally, it also represents a major personal loss.  They moved to this property in fall of 2020, and they had worked tirelessly to get the Family Market established and opened in the fall of 2021.  Not only did the buildings contain their animals, farming equipment/supplies, and the business - they also housed the realization of their dreams and goals that they'd brought with them when they moved to their new home.  This is a devastating blow.  They are committed to rebuilding, and the work to do so has already begun.

The Schwartz family is a valuable asset to our community, and they have blessed many with their kindness and generosity over the years.  Now it's our turn to give back to them in their time of need.  Please help us to be a blessing to them as they rebuild.

facebook twitter

As of today, 2/17/22, the barn has been framed, roofed, and mostly sided.  The market/warehouse foundation has been staked out, and the area has been leveled in preparation for the posts to be set.  Thank you so much to each of you who has donated to assist the Schwartzes!  They appreciate your love, prayers, and tangible support.  I am going to print your comments to give to them.  The first GSG payout came through today ($162 after fees), so I will be writing a check for that amount to the Rebuilding Fund that the local Amish community has established for this endeavor.
