We are reaching out on behalf of our beloved brother, husband, father, and friend — Paul, who has been courageously battling small cell carcinoma since December 2020. After 4 relentless years of treatment, his cancer has now spread to his brain, hips, liver, and spine. With heavy hearts, the time has come to focus on making his remaining days as peaceful & comfortable as possible.
Paul is the definition of humility and quiet strength. Married to his wife Colleen for 20 years, together they’ve raised three incredible children: Alex (18), Jacob-James (15), and Fiona (12). Throughout this journey, Paul has shown unwavering love and resilience — his only goal has been to create memories with his family and provide for them even as cancer changed everything.
Thanks to treatment at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston — one of the nation’s top cancer hospitals — Paul was able to surpass his original prognosis. These treatments gave him the chance to witness his firstborn graduate high school and head off to college. More family fishing outings at the lake. They gave him precious time to travel, enjoy music, and make unforgettable memories with Colleen. These moments were priceless.
But after four years of aggressive care, the medical bills have taken a significant toll on the family. Now, with his cancer spreading and time drawing short, Paul’s family is hoping to bring him home on hospice, where he can be surrounded by love, comfort, and dignity.
We’re humbly asking for help to cover:
• In-home hospice care
• Medical equipment and caregiving support
• Funeral and end-of-life expenses
• Financial relief for the family during this incredibly difficult time
If any funds remain, they will go directly toward supporting Paul’s children’s education — a lasting tribute to the man who worked so hard to give them a future.
As Paul’s sister, it’s painful to write these words. He is not someone who ever asks for help. In fact, Paul has always been the one quietly stepping in to help others. But now, we have the opportunity to give something back to him — to show him and his family that they are not alone.
Any amount you can give — no matter how small — will make a meaningful difference. Your support will allow this beautiful family to spend their final moments together, free from financial fear, & full of love.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for reading, donating, & sharing Paul’s story.
With love,
Catherine on behalf of The McCauley & Friess Family
