20 years. That is how long Geoffrey Thomas has been incarcerated in a Michigan prison for a crime he did not commit.

Geoffrey has maintained his innocence from day one. Now, due to changes in Michigan laws regarding eyewitness identification, we finally have a path to bring him home. But we cannot do it alone.

The Story of Injustice

In 2005, Geoffrey’s life was turned upside down. His car was seen leaving the scene of a robbery. Geoffrey voluntarily went to the police. He told them the truth: he was at his girlfriend’s apartment waiting for maintenance to fix a toilet. He was nowhere near the crime scene.

Despite having an alibi and witnesses (management and maintenance staff), the system failed him:

• Faulty Identification: When police showed Geoffrey’s photo to five witnesses immediately after the crime, none of them chose him.
• Forced Narrative: Six months later, under pressure in a courtroom where Geoffrey was the only Black male at the defense table, witnesses suddenly "identified" him.
• Ignored Evidence: The witnesses who could prove he was at home were never properly used in his defense.

Why We Need Your Help

Geoffrey was sentenced to 35 to 50 years based on this questionable identification. No money was taken during the robbery, and no one was injured, yet a man’s life was taken away for decades.

Today, we have the opportunity to hire a specialist attorney and an identification expert to prove what Geoffrey has said for two decades: He was not there.

We are raising funds for:

1. An expert witness in eyewitness identification.
2. Legal fees to present this new evidence in court.

Geoffrey has served over 20 years with dignity. It is time to correct this wrong. Please help us fight for justice, vindication, and Geoffrey's freedom.

This fundraiser is organized by close friends of Geoffrey based in Germany. 100% of the donations (after platform fees) are strictly reserved for Geoffrey’s legal defense.

We are currently in the process of selecting the best possible legal representation. All raised funds will be paid directly to the retained attorney’s trust account or used to pay specific legal invoices. No funds will be used for personal expenses.
