Funeral Cost for Felita Corpes

Campaign Created by: Jo & Friends of Felita

The funds from this campaign will be received by Jo Ocbena.

Raised: CAD $ 800

Our friend, Felita, was one of the most generous persons we know in the community. With her sudden passing, we hope to pay forward the same generosity to her family.

(Below is a letter from her sweet friend, Jelai)

Dear family and friends,

I am writing to you with a heavy heart and great sadness. As many of you may already know, our dear Felita Corpes has suddenly and unexpectedly passed away, leaving behind her family in the Philippines. She was a family, a friend, and a heaven-sent cook to all of us. She brings her smile and a helping hand wherever she goes without asking for anything in return. It is hard to remember her smiles and laughs without thinking she is no longer with us.

Felita was tirelessly working her two jobs as the primary breadwinner for the family she left in the Philippines and no immediate family here in Canada. Her family is facing the overwhelming task of trying to support each other during this time.

As you can imagine, this is a devastating loss for all of us and her mother and siblings to cope with the emotional and financial that come with such a tragedy. As a result of Felita’s passing, they are facing a number of financial challenges, such as funeral expenses and the cost of sending her remains back to her home in the Philippines, where her family is.

That is why we are reaching out to ask for your help. If you are able to contribute to a fundraising campaign to help cover these expenses, it would be greatly appreciated. Any amount, no matter how small, would be a tremendous help to Felita’s family during this difficult time.

If you are unable to contribute financially, please consider sharing this fundraiser with your own network of friends and family. Every little bit helps, and your support and kindness will be greatly appreciated by Felita’s family.

Thank you for considering a donation to help ease the burden of these untimely costs. Felita will always be remembered as a special person in our lives, and your generosity to others will be a testament to her enduring legacy.

Greetings in Christ.

We are happy to inform everyone that Felita made it home last Friday, 17 Feb. Internment is scheduled on Sunday, 26 Feb (Philippine time).

The community fundraiser reached $35k including your generous donations which was more than enough to cover for her airfare of CAD2624. Praise God! Even in her death, our late friend Felita, was able to bring out the best in each one of us.

God bless and keep you all for your generosity.

With Thanks and Prayers,
