I'm usually pretty good with writing, unfortunately, I'm having a hard time figuring out what to say right now.

My 39yr old cousin, Daniel, passed away unexpectedly last night (Sunday, 10/15/2017). He lived in Dunbar, WV with his Mother, Marsha (my Aunt), his sister, Rachael, his niece and nephew and his 15yr old daughter. There isn't much to say except funeral expenses are costly and that's the reason we are trying to raise money. Times are tough for everyone and we just want to make the burden a bit lighter by coming together to help my cousin and her family.

Our family is already uniting however the cost of the funeral/plot/etc are things that we can never fully prepare for. The money raised during this campaign will be used to help with the funeral costs and to assist the family with any unforeseen immediate expenses. It's, again, to make their burden light. The last thing anyone wants to do is stress during times like these.

Anything you're able to give to help during this time is greatly appreciated.

***If you have a memory of my cousin, Daniel Washington, that you'd like to share please do so. I'm monitoring this campaign but will be sure his sister, Elisabeth (Rachael) and mother (Marsha) see it. And I will try my best to have the information artfully transformed into a memory book for his daughter to remember him by as she continues to grow***

Daniel was my classmate at GWHS, and we were in the same bowling league. He was a fantastic bowler! More importantly, Daniel was a kind, friendly, and caring individual. My thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time.

Daniel was a good friend, neighbor, classmate, and teammate. I met Daniel at Oakmont’s basketball court before our 5th grade year started at Overbrook. We were in the same home room at JA and GW. We also played basketball together at CCUM. I admired his martial arts skills and dedication. He was a quiet person, but I also admired his leadership ability with his family and friends. He was a truly good friend. I wish I’d been more than a facebook friend for many years now. I am thankful that he was part of my life. My prayers go out to his family and friends. Rest in peace my friend; you are in a better place.

Daniel was one of my close friends growing up. I have many fond memories of playing ball at Oakmont and hanging out after school and in the summertime. We lost touch over the years, but it was always great to see and talk to him again. I remember we caught up again about a year or so ago, and when he saw me, he greeted me like no time had passed at all. He had a real warmth of spirit that just made you feel welcome. Daniel was a great man and a good friend and I will miss him. Sending my heartfelt thoughts and prayers out to his whole family

Update #1
October 29, 2017, 7:43 am

On behalf of the Washington family much much love was expressed yesterday. The outpouring of love, hugs, condolences, cards and generosity that everyonehas given and shown has been more than anyone could’ve expected. The services for him were lovely andwhile many years were shed the Rev. who spoke said it best: “Thirty-nine years is not long...but it’s longenough.”

My cousin accomplished much and made many connections and was a positive influence on many. I’d like to thank everyone who donated, contributed and prayed for our family. Thank you for your kindness and continued support.
