The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore, pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” (Luke 10:2)

Since February, 2018, our family has been living in Cape Town, South Africa, working in ministry.

Let me introduce you to our family of five:

My wife, Andrea, and I, have three, young boys: Jeremy (6), Joshua (3), and Oliver (1). For the past four years, our family has been living in a lovely, two-bedroom cottage in my in-laws back garden. However, we have since outgrown our living space and would love to purchase a house that we can use for ministry training, hospitality, and have room for our family to grow into.

We would love to have a home that can be a ministry equipping and sending platform.

Since moving to Cape Town from Phoenix, Arizona, we have been doing cross-cultural, evangelistic outreaches and ministry training. One of the primary goals of purchasing a home is to facilitate a small group (house church) model of outreach that can then be reduplicated as people are sent out as labourers into other countries.

We have a way to go before we can purchase a home in South Africa. So we are going to aim for raising $50,000 to cover a significant portion of the down payment needed to purchase a home in Cape Town.

An average price for a family home with three bedrooms and a garden for our family (and hospitality ministry) is $235,000. In addition to this, there is a transfer tax of roughly $16,000. This makes the total amount needed roughly $251,000. (Depending on the house and the area, we may find something more affordable and more cost effective, but this is an average estimation). We are also looking into a three-bedroom apartment/flat that is on the market for $109,000. We realise this may be a more realistic stepping stone onto the property market.

As foreigners we can only get a loan for half the cost of the house, so ultimately we will need to raise roughly $90,000 (or $50,000) to put down on a property. Cape Town is a very desirable place to live and the properties are not only maintaining their value but have steadily been appreciating in value. We believe this would be an amazing, long-term, Kingdom investment for our family and Christian work.

Please pray with us as we seek the Lord’s will for our family! We are so grateful for your prayers and support as we navigate this exciting new chapter in our lives.

With love in Christ,

Hunter, Andrea, Jeremy, Joshie, and Ollie
