In January 2022, Charles Schack suffered a massive ischemic stroke. He is a 57 year old vibrant husband and father to seven children. He was admitted to Lahey Hospital, then Brigham and Women's Hospital and then transferred to Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Boston.
He is now a patient at a long-term rehabilitation facility in Massachusetts. He is currently under-going speech therapy, physical therapy and occupational therapy and will need to remain at the rehabilitation facility until he makes enough progress to come home. It is currently not known when he will be able to work again. Charlie is a former NH state trooper and is a sole practitioner at his traffic accident reconstruction business. The business is closed indefinitely.
We are continually reminded that stroke victims typically show the greatest signs of recovery during the first three to four months after a stroke, but survivors continue to recover well into the first and second year after their stroke.
As many of you know, he is a strong, very independent person with a vibrant, positive outlook on life and love for his faith and family. This is a sudden life changing event and he has a long, hard road ahead with many uncertainties.
His wife, Alexandra, has been by his side every step of the way, providing all the love and support she can. This fundraising campaign is to help her with the renovations needed to make their home accessible for him for when he is discharged from the rehabilitation facility, as well as help with expenses while he remains hospitalized and undergoes physical therapy. We are grateful for donations of any amount. Anything helps. Thank you, and please keep Charlie and his loving family in your thoughts and prayers.
