At the beginning of 2014, Community Christian Church answered God's call to stop focusing inward and start looking outward to spread the Kingdom of God. After much prayer, we began looking for where God was calling us into partnership, taking a financial leap of faith to partner beyond the walls of our building.
In 2015, our church began a sister-church partnership with Word International Church in Zuarungu, Ghana. Two of us went and met with Peter Awane, the pastor and visionary head of Word International Church. He asked us to send small teams and individuals from Maryland to come alongside our Ghanaian brothers and sisters in ministry and outreach.
The following year, a small team from CCC went back to work with Word International, preaching side-by-side with ministry leaders to reach out to villages where there was no church. In one of the villages that we visited, a tiny church sprang up, and we were able to help ensure that Word's leaders would continue to be able to go out and disciple that small body. In the past year, that church has grown to over 100 members.
In April 2018, we (Sean McCarthy, Steve Raley, and Kristi Friese) will be returning to Ghana to work with ministry leaders from Word International Church to reach out to local villages, to continue sharing the Good News that God's Kingdom has come, and that we have been redeemed. Our purpose is to encourage and uplift the local leaders and disciples as we work with them side by side, learning and sharing from the Word of God, and using the blessings God has given all of us to bless others as we continue the work God has begun.
It is our prayer that God would continue to use this partnership to bring about a complete transformation of the communities in Ghana's Upper East and beyond as we work together - learning, preaching, and teaching - to renew our understanding of God, his Kingdom, and our place in it.
Please join us as we continue to leap in faith.
Sean, Steve, and Kristi
