A time to be restored!
After coming back from our furlough at the end of October, we had our special “Sausage Roll Day” the day after I got home and fed 1000 children – a big day for them. Then came our Christmas special for them, new T-Shirts that say, “Jesus is my Good Shepherd” Psalm 23. Again this was a day of 1000 children.
Then came the bridal shower for my granddaughter, Rachel, in Johannesburg, end of the year for Kid’s Club and students with Kholofelo. The Wedding for Rachel and Jason was 22 December and 24 December we were all back at my farm for the holidays – 24 of us, tapering off as the week went on. The wedding was beautiful and the family at the farm were so special.
First of the year and it was getting students back into tertiary education – 13 of them. Then shopping for school children for school clothes – around 200 of them. That took 15 trips to the shop with about 20 or more each time, in the heat of summer with no air conditioning in the store.
Then to Johannesburg at the end of February for preparation for Rebecca’s wedding – I got to be there for the final fitting of her beautiful dress and was one of the witnesses to sign the marriage register. Rebecca and Claudio had a lovely wedding on her father’s farm on 24 February.
Then home for Kid’s Club on Wednesday. Thursday, I just stayed home and slept. As I continued to feel tired and weak, I had various doctor’s appointments and finally saw my own doctor late in March who diagnosed vertigo, slow heartbeat, anaemia. My ECG was clear, but I was obviously tired and run down. So, I have been practicing resting more, eating beef liver, spinach, eggs, etc. and now I am taking advice and having a daily walk of 10 minutes and will build up on that time. I am feeling much better and just praising the Lord! Cathie and I were discussing Meringa, a leaf from a tree that is rich in all the vitamins and minerals and decided we would try it. We put about one-fourth teaspoon of crushed Meringa into a cup, poured in boiling water and had a nice tea. 30 minutes later I began to break out and was soon covered with hives and my throat was getting very scratchy. So we rushed off to the hospital for treatment – and I am now fine! Cathie had no reaction to the Meringa nor has anyone else they know of. But – now I know!
Thankfully, all this time, Godfrey and the youth carried on with Kid’s Club and the Students have continued their studies. Godfrey is not only leading the lessons, he is teaching some of the other youth to teach the children. We have some great leadership developing. Kid’s Club is still full of children rushing in for their songs, story and peanut butter and jam sandwich and milk – 300 to 500 each week. Bible Studies are still well attended with around 50 of the smaller children and 15 of the youth. Please keep them all in prayer for understanding and a love for Jesus. Pray for our leadership!
“Praise the Lord, O my soul and all that is within me praise His holy Name!”
In His Service,
